A flood impact assessment involves comparison of flood behaviours between existing and proposed cases. It defines the location and magnitude of anticipated differences resulting from the proposed works. The outputs can be used to alter designs as may be necessary so that proposals do not impact the local environment or nearby properties adversely. The resulting design is used to prepare a report to support the proposal to a government regulator, or certifier.
